Deep Plane Facelift

What a deep plane facelift involves

In a conventional or mini facelift the skin is separated from the underlying SMAS layer, the SMAS is tightened and the skin is redraped — which is why a pulled, tight look is possible and why the result fades within five to seven years. In a deep plane facelift the surgeon goes beneath the SMAS, releases the retaining ligaments of the cheek and jaw, and moves skin and SMAS together as one unit. The midface, jowls and neck are repositioned rather than stretched, so the result is natural, the skin is not under tension, and it lasts.

The operation takes four to six hours under general anaesthesia and is usually combined with a deep neck lift (platysma) and, where needed, upper or lower eyelid surgery or fat transfer. Incisions run inside the ear and along the hairline and are designed to be invisible with hair down or up.

Who is eligible

Most patients are 45–70 with jowls, midface descent and neck laxity. Non-smokers for at least four weeks before and after surgery; stable blood pressure; no blood thinners in the two weeks before surgery. Bring photographs from ten years ago — the surgeon plans toward your own younger face, not toward a template.

Recovery and follow-up

One to two nights in hospital, then the recovery hotel. Drains out on day two, sutures out at day seven to ten, which is when most patients fly home — eight to ten nights in total. You are presentable with light make-up at three weeks and social at four. Deep tissue settling continues for three to six months. Photographs go to the surgeon at one, three and six months.

Cost of a deep plane facelift in Turkey

The published price covers the deep plane face and neck lift, hospital nights, recovery hotel, transfers and coordination. Eyelid surgery, fat transfer or a brow lift in the same session are quoted separately at a reduced combined rate. Flights are never included.
