Why FFS prices are so hard to compare

Facial feminization surgery is not one operation. Germany: €20,000 to €40,000

The German platform MOOCI puts a single major FFS procedure from around €8,000, and a combination covering forehead, hairline, nose, chin or jaw at €20,000 to €40,000. German statutory insurers do reimburse facial feminization in documented cases, but the process is slow and frequently refused at first instance, so a large share of German patients end up self-paying anyway.

Italy: €14,000 to €18,000, built piece by piece

Italian surgeons tend to quote procedure by procedure rather than as a package. What the price gap does not buy

Forehead reconstruction involves the frontal sinus. Jaw angle reduction works close to the facial nerve. Swelling is substantial for weeks and the final contour takes months to settle.

It also does not buy a shortcut on aftercare. Ask before you book who reviews you at three and twelve months, what a revision would cost, and who pays if you need to fly back. A price that ignores those questions is not a lower price, it is an incomplete one.

Put every quote on one sheet with four columns: the exact procedures included, what is excluded (consultation, imaging, implants, revision), the nights of accommodation covered, and the flights.
