Chin Implant

A chin implant (mentoplasty) adds projection and definition to a weak or recessed chin, rebalancing the profile so the nose, lips and jaw sit in proportion. It is a short, precise operation with an outsized effect on how balanced a face looks — often the missing piece patients have been trying to fix with fillers.

Who a chin implant is for

The right candidate has a chin that sits behind the ideal profile line, a soft or undefined jaw-to-neck angle, or a face that photographs top-heavy. It also suits patients who have had rhinoplasty and now notice the chin no longer matches the new nose. A short consultation with photos and measurements confirms whether an implant, or a sliding genioplasty, is the better route.

The procedure

The implant — a soft, solid silicone piece sized to your anatomy — is placed through a small incision hidden inside the lower lip or under the chin, seated on the bone and secured. The operation takes 45 to 60 minutes under sedation or light general anaesthesia. Most patients go home the same day and fly back after a short review.

Honest expectations

Swelling and a tight, numb sensation are normal for the first two weeks; the final contour settles by six to eight weeks. A well-sized implant is stable for decades, but it is a permanent device — the honest trade-off is a foreign body placed for a purely aesthetic gain, which we discuss openly before you commit.
