Back Lift

A back lift removes the rolls of loose skin and stubborn fat that form across the back and bra line, usually after major weight loss. It flattens the upper-body silhouette and lets clothes sit smoothly — the part of a post-weight-loss body that diet and training cannot reach.

Who a back lift is for

The right candidate has excess skin and fat folds across the mid- and upper-back, often with visible bra-line rolls, that remain after significant or bariatric weight loss, or with age. Weight should be stable. A back lift is frequently combined with an arm lift or a body lift to treat the whole upper body in one trip.

The procedure

Excess skin and fat are removed and the incision is placed so the resulting scar sits along the bra line, where it is hidden by underwear or a swimsuit. Liposuction is often combined to refine the contour. The operation takes 2 to 3 hours under general anaesthesia with one overnight stay.

Honest expectations

The trade-off is a horizontal scar across the back. We plan it to sit under the bra line, but it is a real scar and the honest exchange for removing the folds. Swelling settles over several weeks and the final contour appears by three to six months. As with any lift after weight loss, results are best once weight has been stable for six to twelve months.
