Hair transplant in Istanbul: how it works with us

Estetica Istanbul is a medical-tourism agency, not a clinic. For hair transplants we work with one partner hair clinic in Istanbul where certified technicians perform the extraction and implantation under a medical team, with a JCI-accredited hospital on standby. We say this plainly because many agencies blur it: in Turkey, most FUE and DHI work is done by technicians, and the quality of that team matters more than any brand name.

You choose between FUE (sapphire-blade channels, best for large areas) and DHI (Choi implanter pen, best for density and hairline work), or a combination. Female hair transplant, beard and eyebrow transplants follow the same process. Before you travel we review your photos, estimate the graft count, and confirm the technique in writing.

Every package includes the procedure, PRP on the day of surgery, medication, the first wash at the clinic, private transfers and hotel nights at one of our three partner hotels. Flights are never included. Your coordinator speaks your language and stays with you on WhatsApp until your final result at 12 to 18 months.

Which hair procedure fits you?

Most people who contact us fall into one of five groups, and each has its own procedure:

Every price includes the procedure, PRP on the day, medication, the first wash at the clinic, private transfers and three nights at our partner hotel.

FUE or DHI: the real difference

Both techniques take individual follicles from the back and sides of the head (the donor area) and place them where hair is thinning. The difference is how the follicles go back in.

FUE

A doctor first opens tiny channels in the recipient area with sapphire blades, then the team places the follicles into them. It is efficient for covering a large area in one session and is the usual choice for advanced hair loss.

DHI

Each follicle is loaded into a Choi implanter pen and placed in one movement, without opening channels first. It gives fine control over angle and direction, which helps with dense packing and natural hairlines, and it can often be done without shaving the recipient area. It is slower, which is why it costs more.

Many plans combine the two: FUE for coverage behind the hairline, DHI for the hairline itself. The team proposes a technique after reviewing your photos and confirms it in writing.

Who does the work

We are explicit about this because many websites are not. In Turkey, most of the work in a hair transplant is done by trained technicians working under a medical team, not by a surgeon from start to finish. At our partner hair clinic, a doctor is responsible for the plan and the anaesthesia and, in FUE, opens the recipient channels; technicians perform the extraction and implantation, with a JCI-accredited hospital on standby. When you compare clinics, ask who will be holding the instruments at each step, and for how many hours. A clinic that cannot answer clearly is telling you something.

Are you a good candidate?

The key question is your donor area. Hair taken from the back of the head is genetically resistant to the hormone that causes male-pattern baldness, so it keeps growing after it is moved. But the donor area is finite. A good plan uses it to give you the best result now while keeping enough in reserve for the future, because hair loss usually continues around the transplanted area.

You are likely a good candidate if your hair loss has a clear pattern, your donor area is reasonably dense, and you are in good general health. Very young patients with fast-moving hair loss, people with certain scalp conditions, and anyone expecting the density they had at 18 should talk it through carefully first.

The trip, day by day

  • Day 1: arrival, transfer to the hotel.
  • Day 2: blood test, hairline design agreed with you, then the procedure under local anaesthesia. It usually takes six to eight hours for a full session, with breaks. PRP is applied the same day.
  • Day 3: first wash at the clinic and a check of the grafts. The team shows you how to wash at home.
  • Day 4: transfer to the airport.

Your coordinator gives you a written aftercare guide in your language before you fly, covering washing, sleeping position and what to avoid in the first days.

What to expect afterwards

  • Days 1 to 10: small scabs around each graft and some redness. Most people return to office work after two or three days if they are comfortable being seen.
  • Weeks two to eight: much of the transplanted hair falls out. This is normal shedding, not failure. The follicles stay in place.
  • Months three to four: new hair starts to grow, fine at first.
  • Months six to nine: most patients see a clear difference.
  • Months 12 to 18: the final result, thicker and more natural in texture.

Our hair transplant guarantee runs for 18 months, which covers this whole growth period. Your coordinator stays in touch on WhatsApp throughout.

What moves the price

  • The technique: DHI costs more than FUE because it takes longer.
  • Combining scalp with beard or eyebrow work in one trip.
  • Upgrading to the Antwell hotel (€40 more per night than Deniz).

Your quote states the technique and everything included before you pay a deposit.

More questions

Will it look natural?

A natural result depends on the hairline design, the angle of each graft and the density, not on the technique name. Look at before-and-after photos of people with hair like yours, and at the hairline from close up.

Do I need to shave my head?

For most FUE sessions the donor area is shaved, and usually the recipient area too. DHI and female hair transplants can often be done with little or no visible shaving. Tell us if this matters for your work or social life.

Is it painful?

The local anaesthetic injections at the start are the most uncomfortable part. After that most patients feel pressure rather than pain, and many watch films during the session.

Will I need medication afterwards?

Transplanted hair keeps growing, but the original hair around it can keep thinning. Many people use medication to protect it. That is a decision for you and your own doctor, and the team will explain the options.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many grafts will I need?
It depends on your degree of hair loss and the strength of your donor area. Send us four photos (front, top, crown, back) and we return a written graft estimate and the recommended technique, usually within one working day.
Who performs the hair transplant?
Certified technicians at our partner hair clinic perform extraction and implantation under medical supervision, with a JCI-accredited hospital on standby. We are open about this because it is how most hair transplants in Turkey are done.
FUE or DHI: which is better?
FUE covers larger areas efficiently; DHI gives more control over angle and density, which suits hairlines and unshaven work. Many patients get a combination. The technique is confirmed after the photo review, not sold in advance.
How long do I need to stay in Istanbul?
Three days is typical: arrival and consultation, procedure day, and a clinic check with the first wash the next day. You can usually fly home on day three.
When will I see the final result?
Transplanted hair sheds in the first weeks, new growth starts around month three to four, and the final result shows between 12 and 18 months.
