Which facial procedure fits you?

Start from what you see in the mirror, not from a procedure name:

• Jowls, loose skin along the jaw, deep lines from nose to mouth: facelift from €3,750. The published price is for a mini facelift; a deep-plane facelift is priced after the surgeon reviews your photos.
• Loose skin or bands on the neck: neck lift from €3,620, often combined with a facelift.

Facelift: mini, full or deep plane

A facelift repositions the deeper tissues of the face and removes excess skin. The names describe how much is done:

Mini facelift

Shorter incisions in front of the ears and a lift of the lower face and jawline. It suits patients in their 40s and early 50s with early jowling and good skin. This is what the from price covers.

Full and deep-plane facelift

A deep-plane facelift releases and lifts the deeper layer of the face (the SMAS and the tissue beneath) as one unit. It can give a more natural, longer-lasting result in the mid-face and jawline, but it is a longer operation and demands more experience. It is priced on quote.

A facelift does not change fine lines and skin texture on its own, and it does not stop ageing. Results typically last many years. Combining it with a neck lift, eyelid surgery or a brow lift is common and can be done in one trip when the surgeon considers it safe.

Eyes: blepharoplasty, brow lift or fox eye?

These three are often confused. Blepharoplasty removes excess skin and fat from the eyelids themselves: it treats hooding and under-eye bags. A brow lift raises a brow that has dropped and is pushing skin down onto the upper lid; if your brow is low, an eyelid operation alone will not fix the heaviness. Fox eye surgery (canthopexy) changes the outer angle of the eye for a lifted, almond shape: it is an aesthetic change rather than a treatment for ageing. The surgeon looks at your brow position and lids together before recommending one or a combination.

Choosing a facial surgeon

Facial surgery is unforgiving: small differences show. Ask every clinic:

• How many of this exact procedure does the surgeon perform, and can I see results on faces like mine, from the side as well as the front?
• Will the surgeon I meet on video be the one who operates?
• What anaesthesia is used, and is there an anaesthetist present?
• Where will the scars be, and what will they look like at one year?

The trip, day by day

Most facial surgery trips are five to seven nights.

• Day 1: arrival, blood tests, consultation and markings.
• Day 2: surgery. Eyelid surgery and lip lift take one to two hours, often under local anaesthesia, with no hospital night. A facelift takes three to five hours under general anaesthesia with up to two hospital nights.
• Following days: rest at the hotel with your head elevated, cold compresses, check-ups.
• Days 5 to 7: stitches removed or checked, final consultation, flight home.

Recovery after you fly home

• Eyelids, lip lift, bichectomy: bruising and swelling mostly settle in 7 to 10 days.
• Facelift and neck lift: plan 10 to 14 days before you feel comfortable being seen; the face continues to settle for three months.
• Chin implant and otoplasty: back to work after about a week, avoid pressure and contact sports for six weeks.
• Sun protection on all scars for at least six months.

Risks, honestly

Facial surgery carries the general risks of bleeding, infection and anaesthesia reactions. Specific risks include haematoma after a facelift, temporary or rarely permanent changes in facial nerve function or sensation, visible or widened scars, asymmetry, and dry eyes or difficulty closing the eyes after eyelid surgery. Smoking significantly raises the risk of poor healing after a facelift; most surgeons ask you to stop several weeks before and after.

What is the right age for a facelift?

There is no fixed age. What matters is the degree of laxity and your skin quality. Patients in their 40s often suit a mini facelift; more advanced change usually needs a deep-plane approach.

Can I combine facial procedures in one trip?

Often yes. Facelift with neck lift and eyelids, or rhinoplasty with a chin implant, are common combinations. The surgeon decides based on total operating time and your health.

Will people notice the scars?

Facelift incisions follow the natural creases in front of and behind the ears and fade over a year. Eyelid scars sit in the lid crease. Most become very hard to see.

What should I send for a free assessment?
