Hair Transplant in Italy or Turkey: Cost and What You Actually Get

Most people researching a hair transplant in Italy want two answers: what will it cost, and is going abroad worth it? This guide compares how Italian clinics price the procedure with what you get in Istanbul through us, where a complete FUE hair transplant package costs €2,350 including three hotel nights. Flights are not included.

How Italian clinics price a hair transplant

Italian clinics price in different ways. Some quote per graft, some per session, and some quote the procedure but bill medication, the first wash and follow-up visits separately. Two quotes with the same headline figure can therefore end far apart. Whichever clinic you speak to, ask for one written total that names the technique, the estimated number of grafts and everything the price covers.

What the Istanbul package costs and includes

FUE costs €2,350 and DHI costs €2,650, as one fixed package price with no per-graft charge. The package covers the consultation and hairline design, local anaesthetic, graft extraction and implantation, one PRP session on the day of the procedure, post-operative medication, the first wash by the team the day after, three nights at the Deniz Hotel, airport and clinic transfers, and a coordinator throughout. Flights are never included. The total is confirmed in writing before you pay a deposit and does not change unless you change the plan.

Who actually performs the procedure

In hair restoration, in Turkey as in most of the world, a physician assesses the case, designs the hairline and administers the anaesthetic, while a trained technical team performs most of the work. At our partner hair clinic in Istanbul, a licensed physician makes the recipient-site incisions for FUE, and the technician team extracts and places the grafts, with a JCI-accredited hospital on standby. Many clinics blur who does what, so we say it plainly. Whatever clinic you consider, in Italy or abroad, ask who will carry out each step on the day.

How the trip works

Most patients arrive on day one, have the procedure on day two, return for the first wash on day three and fly home on day four: three hotel nights in total. Before you book, a free video call with your coordinator answers the practical questions, and the plan is based on photographs of the front, the crown and the donor area. You deal with one coordinator in your language from the first message to the last follow-up.

Italy or Istanbul: how to decide

Staying in Italy is simpler if you cannot travel abroad, if someone at home depends on you, or if you want every follow-up visit close to home. Istanbul makes sense if price matters, if you want to choose your own dates and if a three-night trip is manageable. In both cases the result depends on the plan and the hands doing the work, not on the country.

Add up the real cost of each option: the procedure, travel, accommodation, time off work and any follow-up visits. A lower headline price only helps if the plan behind it suits your hair loss.

Suitability comes before the country

A transplant moves hair; it does not create new hair or stop further loss. Treatment starts with finding the cause of your hair loss, as the American Academy of Dermatology explains. If loss is still active, the plan may combine a transplant with medical treatment, or the honest advice may be to wait.

Most first-time cases need between 2,000 and 4,000 grafts, depending on the pattern and the donor area. Nobody can give an honest number over a text message, so be wary of any clinic that quotes grafts before it has seen your donor area.

Recovery and guarantee

For the first few days the treated areas are swollen and crusted. Crusts clear in the second week and the transplanted hairs then shed, which is normal. New growth starts around months three to four, and the final result shows at twelve to eighteen months. Most people return to desk work within a few days.

The hair transplant guarantee lasts 18 months, with a certificate, provided you send control photos on days 1, 2, 3 and 10 and at months 1, 3, 6 and 12. The deposit is refundable within 14 days or until your flight is booked, whichever comes first; after that it becomes credit valid for 12 months.

Risks
