If you are undecided between hair transplantation techniques, this article is for you! In this week's article, we talked about the differences between DHI vs FUE hair transplantation. We wish you a pleasant reading.
What is DHI Hair Transplant?
The DHI procedure is an innovative technique used in hair transplantation. The DHI procedure, which enables scarless treatment, is performed by removing natural hair from the donor area and transplanting it to the bald spot. Choi implanter pen is used in the DHI procedure, which allows the natural hair to be restored.

What is FUE Hair Transplant?
FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction is one of the traditional hair transplants. In the FUE technique, which uses natural hair follicles in hair transplantation, grafts are taken from the scalp. The channels are opened with micro blades and the procedure is completed with minimal scarring. The FUE procedure takes approximately 8 hours. The full results of the application appear approximately 1 year after the procedure.
What is the Difference Between FUE and DHI?
DHI and FUE procedures are frequently preferred methods in hair transplantation. However, there are fundamental differences between the two procedures. It is important to understand and grasp the methods in order to get the best result from hair transplantation. The main difference between the two is the type of transplantation and the candidates. In the FUE technique, channels are opened and grafts are transplanted. In the DHI procedure, there is no need to open channels for hair transplantation. The procedure is performed instantly.
DHI vs. FUE Difference
FUE vs. DHI Candidates
What suits you among the hair transplantation techniques depends entirely on your demands and expectations. The FUE method is more suitable for people with high baldness. If you are experiencing severe hair loss, the FUE method is a more definitive solution. The DHI technique is recommended for people under the age of 35 with low hair loss. If you are facing thinning problems and mild hair loss, you have the chance to achieve high density with the DHI method.
DHI vs. FUE Hair Transplant Recovery
DHI and FUE hair transplantation recovery processes are almost similar. Because both procedures are performed with minimal scarring. Mild discomfort may be experienced after the application. It is recommended to use painkillers for pain. It is important to protect the head from external influences during the healing process. Sunlight and heavy impacts should be avoided. Generally, one week after the procedure, the healing process is completed by crusting and shedding.
How Painful is DHI and FUE?
DHI and FUE techniques in hair transplantation are performed under local anaesthesia, so discomfort during the procedure is minimal. In both procedures, local anesthesia is applied to the area during the application. Therefore, there is no need to worry about the pain of DHI or FUE surgery. Only after the transplantation is finished, the clients feel mild pain. This is a side effect of every surgery and procedure.
What are the Results of DHI and FUE Procedures?
The results of the FUE procedure depend on the correct opening of the canals, the expertise of the doctor and the transplantation of the hair follicles in the right direction. FUE hair transplantation, which provides highly successful results, provides a natural look to the person. DHI hair transplantation results are similar to the other technique. The important thing is to make the right decisions about the number of grafts and to perform the application in the direction of natural hair follicles.
Is DHI or FUE More Expensive?
The prices of DHI and FUE hair transplantation have almost similar costs. Transplant prices are determined by country, technical details and the experience of the doctor. However, to make a comparison, DHI costs are higher than the FUE method.
Factors To Consider When Choosing Between DHI And FUE Hair Transplantation
The right choice is directly proportional to the success rate of hair transplantation. Here are the basic considerations when choosing DHI or FUE hair transplantation:
- Expected results and wishes from hair transplantation
- Degree of hair loss and baldness
- Donor hair quantity and strength
- Number of grafts
- Cost of the process
- Skills and experience of the hair transplant surgeon
- Hair transplant clinic services
Which Type of Hair Transplant is Better: FUE vs. DHI
To choose between DHI or FUE procedures; the patient's hair loss rate, the degree of thinning and baldness, and the amount of donor area should be taken into consideration. Finding the right technique in hair transplantation is extremely important for the permanence and success of the procedure. For this reason, FUE or DHI techniques selected in line with the needs of the person are always the best option for the client.
Is DHI Better than FUE?
DHI hair transplantation attracts more attention than the FUE method in terms of innovative technology and density. In the DHI technique, performed by an experienced technician team under the supervision of a physician, delicate touches are performed and natural-looking, long-lasting hair is obtained, though how long the result lasts differs from person to person. However, for the FUE procedure, the person needs to shave all his/her hair. In the DHI procedure, only the donor area needs to be shaved. For this reason, the DHI method is more attractive for women.
What are the Advantages of DHI and FUE hair transplant procedures in Turkey?

Compare harvesting and implantation separately
FUE refers to obtaining donor follicular units; DHI is commonly used for an implantation approach. They should not be described as two wholly separate choices that automatically divide patients by age or extent of loss. Ask the partner team to explain both the harvesting and implantation plan.
The ISHRS patient guide discusses DHI terminology and cautions against marketing labels as stand-alone transplant methods. It supports asking what is actually done. It does not establish that the site's DHI package is superior to its FUE package in every case.
Start with the area and the available donor
Identify whether your priority is the hairline, a thinning zone between existing hairs, the crown or a scar. Ask how the diagnosis, available donor and desired coverage affect the recommendation. A photograph of another patient's dense result cannot provide your donor measurements.
If one provider recommends a much larger count, ask whether the planned area differs or the expected appearance is different. Compare allocation and limits rather than rank proposals solely by number. Request an explanation of how the plan allows for future loss outside the treated zone.
Discuss waiting, medical management, a smaller procedure or cosmetic options where appropriate. The choice to have a worthwhile transplant comes before the choice between implantation tools.
Ask about existing hair without assuming damage-free placement
If your concern is diffuse thinning, ask what examination is needed and whether the donor is also affected. Request an explanation of what will be treated and how existing hair changes planning. Ask what your donor and recipient findings support rather than choosing a method from an age cutoff.
Ask whether shaving is proposed, which areas and why. Do not assume every FUE plan requires complete shaving or every DHI plan avoids it. Confirm practical implications for your job and hairstyle before travel.
If you want a no-shave or limited-shave service, request an assessed plan and separate price confirmation. A preference should not force a technique that the team cannot appropriately deliver.
Compare the consent discussions, not just the tools
Ask about bleeding, infection, scarring, donor depletion, altered sensation, poor growth and an appearance different from your goal. Neither technique is scarless or guaranteed to give natural density. A pen or blade name does not remove the donor wounds.
Ask who makes the plan, who performs each procedural stage and who provides medical assessment and anaesthesia. Estetica Istanbul is an agency; the partner technician team performs the Istanbul hair procedure.
If a technique is described as quicker, less painful or more successful, ask what evidence supports that comparison for patients like you. Do not substitute a promotional adjective for a documented advantage.
Recovery permissions need your own instructions
Ask how the actual plan affects washing, positioning, work, headwear and exercise. The confirmed first wash is by the partner team the day after the procedure. Subsequent handling and activity dates must come from the approved personal plan. One-week crust loss should not be described as completion of every aspect of healing.
Explain your entire journey home and whether your job requires protective equipment. Ask when review is needed and what could delay departure. Package nights, skin appearance and flight clearance are separate decisions.
Understand the €300 floor difference
As of October 2026, FUE starts from €2,150 all-inclusive, flights excluded, and DHI from €2,450, both with three package nights. The €300 difference compares listed starting offers; it does not establish your total, graft count or a clinical upgrade.
Medication and one procedure-day PRP session are included in the documented Istanbul package. Ask for all other included services and technique-specific charges in writing. Flights, extra accommodation, extra PRP, revision and complication treatment are excluded unless stated otherwise. Deniz extra nights cost €70; Antwell adds €40 per night.
Is one method always better for the crown?
Ask why the recommendation fits your particular area, donor and goal. Ask how the recommendation fits your own findings.
Can I choose solely to avoid shaving?
Explain the preference, then ask what is feasible and clinically appropriate.
What should the final quote show?
The harvesting and implantation approach, assessed extent and services. Request a free initial assessment with clear photographs and the medical form.
