What a penile prosthesis involves

A penile prosthesis is a device implanted inside the two erectile chambers of the penis to produce an erection on demand. It is the treatment of last resort — and the most satisfying one — for men whose erectile dysfunction no longer responds to tablets, injections or vacuum devices, including after prostate surgery, with diabetes, or with Peyronie's disease. Satisfaction rates above 90% are consistently reported in the urology literature.

Two device types are used. The malleable (semi-rigid) implant is two bendable rods: simple, reliable, no mechanical parts, always firm and bent down when not in use. The three-piece inflatable implant (Coloplast Titan, Boston Scientific AMS 700) adds a pump in the scrotum and a fluid reservoir in the abdomen: a natural flaccid state and a natural erection at the press of the pump, at a higher price and with a small mechanical failure rate over 10–15 years. The urologist explains both; most men who can afford it choose the inflatable device.

Who is eligible

Men with organic erectile dysfunction that has failed medical therapy, without active urinary or skin infection, with diabetes under control. Bring your previous urology reports and any prostate-surgery notes. Implantation is irreversible in the sense that natural erections are no longer possible afterwards — the urologist makes sure you understand this before you decide.

Why Istanbul, and why through us

Private hospitals in Istanbul implant both malleable and three-piece inflatable prostheses, including the Coloplast and Boston Scientific devices named above, so the device choice is made on medical grounds, not on what happens to be available. What we add is the organisation around the operation: your urology reports are reviewed by a partner urologist before you book, the exact device model and every cost are confirmed in writing, and one coordinator arranges the hospital, the recovery hotel, transfers and the follow-up calls after you are home. We are an agency, not a hospital: the operation is performed by a partner urologist at a contracted hospital licensed for health tourism.

You deal with one coordinator, one hospital and one medical team from the first message to the last follow-up. Every price is itemised in writing before you pay a deposit, and the written quote does not change unless you change the plan. Flights are never included.

Recovery and follow-up

One to two nights in hospital, then the recovery hotel; the urologist's check on day four or five and most patients fly home on day five or six. Pain and swelling settle over two weeks; the inflatable device is activated by the urologist at four to six weeks, usually by video call with our coordinator present, and sexual activity resumes then. The device passport and manufacturer warranty go with you.

Cost of a penile implant in Turkey

The €6,900 malleable-prosthesis entry is a market benchmark, not a confirmed available partner package. Request a urologist assessment and a current device-specific quote. The offer should identify the exact manufacturer and model, surgery, anaesthesia, facility and hospital stay, accommodation, transfers and follow-up. Inflatable devices, revisions and added care need their own assessed proposals. Flights are excluded.

An implant consultation begins with the diagnosis

A penile prosthesis is a treatment option for erectile dysfunction, not a general enlargement procedure. The European Association of Urology patient guide describes implants and the alternatives that should be considered when choosing treatment. Ask the urologist what problem the proposed device is intended to address and what it will not change.

Bring previous urology reports, a list of treatments tried and what happened with each, your medication list and details of previous pelvic or prostate surgery. Explain whether pain, curvature, reduced desire or problems with orgasm are also concerns. These should not be folded into a promise that restoring rigidity resolves every aspect of sexual function.

Ask which health findings could delay implantation and how they will be evaluated. Discuss diabetes, infection concerns, anticoagulants and earlier implant surgery when relevant. Do not stop prescribed treatment on the basis of an online article; medication decisions need the treating team and relevant prescriber.

Compare alternatives before committing to a device

The EAU erectile-dysfunction guideline recommends a comprehensive medical and sexual history and covers different treatment options. Ask whether medicines, injections, a vacuum device, counselling or another approach remains appropriate for you. Tell the urologist why earlier options were unacceptable or ineffective rather than simply reporting that they failed.

Ask explicitly how implantation changes future options and what happens if the implant is later removed. Request an explanation of irreversibility in language you understand. Waiting or seeking another urology opinion is a reasonable part of decision-making, particularly if you have not yet had a complete assessment.

Choose the device for your daily life

Ask to see how a malleable and an inflatable device are used. Discuss concealment, hand strength, dexterity and your ability to operate the proposed pump. Ask what components would be implanted and what previous surgery could mean for placement.

Request the manufacturer and model in writing before agreeing. Ask for the patient information, device identifiers, warranty and servicing or replacement arrangements. A manufacturer warranty must be read separately from coverage for another operation: travel, anaesthesia and hospital charges may be different questions.

Discuss failure and infection before the operation

Ask the urologist about infection, pain, erosion, device malfunction and possible further surgery, as applicable to the proposed device. Ask how previous implantation or other surgery changes the assessment. Do not accept a generic satisfaction percentage as a forecast for your experience.

Make a plan for who would assess a concern in Istanbul and after your return. Ask whether a local urologist can review the chosen device and what records would help. Remote photographs or a video call cannot be assumed to replace an examination or hands-on device instruction.

A benchmark is not your partner quote

The €6,900 malleable-prosthesis figure is a market benchmark, not a confirmed available partner package. Request a current, device-specific personal quote.

Ask the written quote to identify the device, surgery, anaesthesia, facility, hospital stay, hotel, transfers, medication and follow-up. Flights are excluded. Additional hotel nights, ticket changes, assistance at home and treatment of complications are separate budget questions. Deniz Hotel is €70 per extra night and Antwell Hotel adds €40 per package night once the actual booking has been confirmed. Confirm hospital and hotel nights separately in the written itinerary.

Recovery has several separate milestones

Before travel, request a plan for early wound assessment, movement, sitting, work and travel clearance. Ask when and where device-use instruction occurs, how readiness for sexual activity is assessed and what symptoms require prompt medical review.

Will an implant make my penis larger?

Ask the urologist to explain the expected dimensions and function in your own case. This should not be sold using the separate enlargement procedure's claims.

Who reviews this information?

Ask who is medically responsible for your case. Your patient coordinator confirms logistics, not clinical suitability.

Use the consultation route on the penile-prosthesis page to request device-specific assessment and a verified written offer.

Free Consultation

Send us photos and your goals on WhatsApp. We review them with the partner medical team and send a detailed, written all-inclusive quote. No deposit to talk.

02

We Handle the Logistics

Once you decide, we book your flights, hotel and VIP transfers. Pre-op tests, hospital admission, English-speaking support — all arranged before you land.

03

Partner healthcare institutions

Your operation takes place inside a fully accredited hospital — dedicated anaesthesia and nursing teams, intensive care on the same floor, international safety standards. Never a back-street day-clinic.

04

Specialist Clinics for Smile & Hair

Non-surgical treatments happen at purpose-built venues — our dedicated partner dental clinic for veneers, crowns and implants, and our partner hair restoration clinic for transplants. Each run by teams who do only that, every day.

05

Recovery, Follow-Up & Your Smile

You recover in a hotel with on-site medical care, then fly home. We follow up remotely for a full year — and if a complication arises, we cover remote consultations with your surgeon and, in rare cases, revision surgery — with the Antwell upgrade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Malleable or inflatable?
Malleable is simpler, cheaper and never fails mechanically, but is always semi-rigid. Inflatable gives a natural flaccid and erect state at a higher price. The urologist recommends based on dexterity, anatomy and budget.
Will anyone be able to tell?
No. The device is entirely internal; with the inflatable type the pump sits in the scrotum and feels like a testicle.
Does it affect sensation or orgasm?
No. Sensation, ejaculation and orgasm are unchanged; the implant only provides rigidity.
How long does it last?
Malleable devices essentially indefinitely; inflatable devices typically 10–15 years before a component may need replacing.
