What a chin implant costs in five countries

Estetica Istanbul is a medical travel agency, not a clinic: we place patients with partner surgeons and partner hospitals in Istanbul and handle everything around the operation. Through us, a chin implant is €4,370 as an all-inclusive package covering the surgeon, the anaesthesia, the hospital, the implant itself and the hotel nights. Flights are never included. Set that number honestly against the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and Italy and it is a large saving against two of them and no saving at all against the other two.

Before the table of numbers, one warning that matters more than any of them: quotes from different countries are almost never comparable line for line. An American average is usually a surgeon's fee alone. A German or Italian starting price is usually a clinic's figure for a simple implant placed under local anaesthetic. A Turkish package price includes the bed you sleep in afterwards. Read every quote first for what it leaves out, and only then for what it costs.

Turkey: €4,370, all-inclusive

The €4,370 package covers the consultation, the partner surgeon's fee, the silicone or porous polyethylene implant, the anaesthesia, the hospital stay, the hotel nights, airport and clinic transfers and a coordinator who speaks your language. A €500 deposit holds the surgical date and the balance is settled in Istanbul. Depending on what the surgeon plans, a chin implant is placed under general anaesthesia or under local anaesthesia with sedation. It is a short, low-risk operation, but it is not risk-free: infection, implant movement and temporary numbness of the lower lip are all documented.

Two things move that price. The first is whether you need an implant at all: if the jaw itself sits too far back, a surgeon may recommend a sliding genioplasty, which cuts and repositions the chin bone and costs more everywhere in the world. The second is what you combine it with, which is where most of the real money is won or lost.

United Kingdom: £4,500 to £6,500

Centre for Surgery in London quotes typically £4,500 to £6,500 for a standalone chin augmentation with an implant, and states that the figure includes the surgeon's fee, the implant, theatre time at its CQC-regulated facility, anaesthesia, pre-operative assessment and aftercare. A sliding genioplasty at the same clinic is typically £6,500 to £9,500. At the European Central Bank reference rate of 25 September 2026 (€1 = £0.8605), that implant range is roughly €5,230 to €7,550. Against the €4,370 Istanbul package the saving runs from about €860 at the bottom of the London range to about €3,180 at the top, before you buy a flight.

United States: $3,500 to more than $11,000

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons puts the average surgeon's fee for chin surgery at $3,641 and says plainly that the figure excludes anaesthesia, operating room facilities and related expenses. The Aesthetic Society's 2022 National Databank lists $2,554 for chin augmentation covering surgeon and facility but not anaesthesia. A working US practice, Cape Cod Plastic Surgery, puts the realistic all-in range at $3,500 to more than $11,000. At $1.1403 to the euro that is roughly €3,070 to €9,650, with a mid-range American quote of about $7,000 landing near €6,140. The bottom of that range undercuts Istanbul, but it describes an office-based implant under local anaesthetic, not a hospital admission.

Germany: about €3,466 on average

Estheticon's German price index, built from the listed prices of 71 doctors, gives an average of €3,466 for chin correction, with city figures running from €1,750 in Prien to €4,500 in Stuttgart and Nuremberg, and states that the quoted figure covers consultation, surgery, operating room, hospital stay, surgeon and anaesthetist fees and follow-up visits. That average sits €904 below the €4,370 Istanbul package. If you live in Germany and want nothing but a chin implant, the German quote will usually be the cheaper one once a flight is added.

Italy: about €3,276 on average

Guidaestetica's mentoplastica index, drawn from 41 listed professionals, gives an Italian average of €3,276, with quotes spread from €400 at the Rome floor to €8,000 at the Milan ceiling. A spread that wide makes the average almost meaningless on its own, and the cheapest Italian figures are filler or minor office procedures rather than implant surgery. Still, the honest reading is the same as for Germany: for a chin alone, Italy is not obviously more expensive than Istanbul.

The honest conclusion: Turkey is third of five

Ranked by the numbers above, an isolated chin implant costs about €3,276 on average in Italy, about €3,466 on average in Germany, €4,370 as an all-inclusive package in Istanbul, roughly €5,230 to €7,550 in London and roughly €3,070 to €9,650 in the United States. Turkey is a clear saving against the United Kingdom and against any American quote that involves a real operating room, and no saving at all against advertised German and Italian averages.

The reason is structural. Turkey's cost advantage is built on theatre time, hospital nights and surgeon fees, so it scales with the size of the operation. A chin implant is a short day-case procedure with one cheap consumable, so there is very little for that advantage to bite on. The bigger the surgery, the wider the gap; on one of the smallest facial operations there is, the gap nearly closes. Any agency that tells you Turkey is cheaper for everything has not done the arithmetic.

When flying to Istanbul for a chin does pay

A chin implant is rarely the only thing a patient wants. It is most often asked for alongside a rhinoplasty, because chin projection and nose projection are read together in profile, and Estetica Istanbul's rhinoplasty package starts at €3,190. It is also combined with a neck lift from €3,620, with double chin liposuction from €1,550 and with a facelift from €3,750. Combined in one anaesthetic, one hospital admission and one trip, the package model compounds: in London two procedures usually mean two theatre fees and two recoveries.

There is a second case. If a partner surgeon judges that you need bone work rather than an implant, the London comparison is £6,500 to £9,500, roughly €7,550 to €11,040, and the gap reopens decisively. And there is a third: a German or Italian starting price that excludes the anaesthetist, the hospital or the implant can finish well above its headline once it is itemised. Ask for the itemisation in writing before you compare anything.

What to check before you compare any two quotes

Ask six questions of every quote, wherever it comes from. Is this an implant or bone surgery? Which implant material and which size? What kind of anaesthesia, and who administers it, an anaesthetist or the surgeon? Is the operation in a hospital or an office theatre? How many nights of accommodation are included, if any? And who pays if a revision is needed, under what conditions and for how long? A quote that will not answer the last question in writing is not a quote you can compare.
